RME: AN ALTERNATIVE LEARNING IN IMPROVING MATHEMATICAL COMMUNICATION OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract


In mathematics learning, teacher communication with students and students with students is very important to achieve the learning objectives. The student's mathematical communication skills are important to develop as they include the ability to communicate conceptual understanding, reasoning, and problem-solving as a goal of mathematics learning. This research is a Classroom Action Research with the subject of research is the students of IPS I grade XI SMA Muhammadiyah. This study aims to describe the improvement of mathematical communication through Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach. The purpose of this study is the application of mathematics learning by using the RME approach to improve students' mathematical communication. Data collection techniques used concept comprehension tests, student activity observation sheets, field notes and interviews. Data analysis technique in this research is to analyze all available data both qualitative data and quantitative data. The result of the research is the improvement of students' mathematical communication. The students' mathematical communication skills are improved by looking at the results of the average grade scores on pretest, Cycle 1 and Cycle 2.
